“This painting is called ‘Braid the currents and weave the flows’. It pictures one of my daughters situated next to a creek that runs through the valley I live in. For me, my most peaceful times are when I’m present with my family — particularly my wife and children — in nature. I think it’s times like this, when all I’m focused on is that moment, enjoying the people I love most, that my heart feels most at peace. Being immersed in the natural world and meditating on its beauty and complexity also grounds me and brings me peace.”

Ben Crawford was born in Cork in the south of Ireland in 1983. After finishing his degree in fine art in 2007, Ben exhibited with a few Irish galleries, including his first solo show in Cork city in 2008. But it wasn’t until he came to live with his wife’s family in Australia in 2011, that Ben started to pursue art as a feasible career. Initially working from a tiny old food trailer, Ben has slowly developed his painting practice over the past thirteen years, eventually building the studio he currently works from out of an old shipping container.
