In “Silence,” four young, sleeping people meet, their bodies tightly entwined. They seem to rest in a floating, timeless space, far from noise, conflict, or gravity. Their proximity to one another, the gentle, merging forms, and the almost dreamlike setting create a powerful, secure world that forms an inner terrain of stillness and security.

The bodies together form a landscape, with mountains and valleys, interspersed with peace and quiet. The work is intended as a poetic response to the question of how peace can arise: through human closeness, trust, and conscious pause amidst the noise of the world.

Jule Appel, born 1999 in Tübingen, lives and works in Dresden. Since 2022 she studies at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden in the painting class of Helen Verhoeven. Her work is mostly figurativ focussing on the human nature.
