Anat Wegier
“If a miracle were to happen tonight and I woke tomorrow with a sense of peace, it would not be the soft or effortless kind we often imagine. For me, peace emerges only after walking through difficulty — through the uncomfortable, the bitter, the parts of the journey that demand courage. This is the world of Becoming Bird. The girls stand in the raw moment of transformation, their bodies caught between human and creature, between what they were and what they are becoming. Their awkwardness, vulnerability, and quiet tension reflect the truth that real change is rarely gentle; it asks us to shed familiar skins and step into uncertainty. In this painting, peace is the fragile clarity that rises from that struggle — the moment when hardship becomes possibility, when bitterness carries the first seed of hope, and when the body begins to sense the wings it is still learning to grow.”
Anat Wegier is a figurative painter whose work navigates the emotional territory between girlhood, womanhood, and myth. Through bodies in transition, she explores resilience, vulnerability, and the transformative strength that emerges from hardship. She holds an MA in Art History and Philosophy from Tel Aviv University, with additional artistic training in Tel Aviv, Barcelona, and New York. Wegier exhibits internationally, shaping a visual language rooted in metamorphosis, emotional depth, and the complex, human beauty found within struggle.
