Sofia Saavedra
“I believe that Peace is the state where seeds, flowers, and all of human nature grow. It includes the possibility of creating art and life. Peace is the first home where we can shelter both body and soul in order to grow.”
“The Walkers – Boxers at the Crossing (self-portrait with fish)” is a work that invites reflection on dreams and the creative act as a portal of resistance. The dream world expands the symbolic and sensorial possibilities of humanity.
Sofia Saavedra was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and has received a fellowship from the Institute of International Education’s Artist Protection Fund and completed an artistic residency (November 2024 – November 2025) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) in the United States.
