Elena Burykina
“I find peace in feelings of harmony within, friendship, freedom to be yourself, comfort, rest, calm, everyday routine, trust, safety, the sharing of success and sorrows. For me, peace strongly resonates in me when shared with family and those close to me. The painting Morning Before Christmas includes all those feelings of peace. It is a typical morning during Christmas holidays. The whole family is in the kitchen and dining area for breakfast. Everyone in one way or another is in anticipation of the holiday. Someone is busy. Someone is lazy. The whole family lives and shares these days together staying in balance and harmony through the tiny details of individual routines. Peace is family. It is community and connection.”
Elena Burykina is an artist based in Chattanooga, TN USA. Elena always wanted to be an artist. As a child in Ukraine, she received a classical art education which she used for over a decade as an architect. It was an applied form of her desire to create art. Elena moved away from architecture into teaching art to children and painting when she could, and finally she was able to focus all her time on being an artist and learning. She moved to America in 2013 and turned her full attention to painting. Elena’s favorite subjects to paint are people. She seeks a connection with the model that she can translate to the surface. Elena is an awarded member of The Portrait Society of America and Oil Painters of America.
