Alsadig Mahmoud
“For me, peace begins with an ethical and affective engagement with the world. This work approaches peace as a fragile, negotiated condition rather than a stable ideal, examining how personal memory, subtle gestures, and everyday experiences intersect with broader social realities. The artwork proposes peace as an ongoing practice of attention, coexistence, and becoming.”
Alsadig Mahmoud, born in 1983 in Khartoum, utilizes symbolism and elements from Sudanese culture to portray impressions from what the Sudanese people are going through in their lands or exile. His painting style is a blend of buildings, construction shapes and figures that move in harmony, forming a visual narrative of reality and hope as he explores concepts of peace and conflict, humanity, nature, and movement. The skillful nature of Alsadig’s talent is present in his mixed media techniques as he smoothly switches between painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture. His recent exhibitions include his participation in “Transformations: New Perspectives” Group exhibition curated by Tewasart and Patrons at Village Market, Nairobi, “NORDIC ENCOUNTERS” at HKK Gallery in Stockholm, Sweden, “Anthropology of Detachment” at Circle Art Gallery, “Home: A daydream” at Tribal Art Gallery in Nairobi, Kenya, “Echos of Place” group exhibition in Kampala, Uganda. Alsadig is currently living and working in Nairobi, Kenia.
