Friederike Ablang
“Rest little soul, you suffered a lot.
Sleep, little soul you’ve seen too much.
Heal now while I’ll ask the world to not
Be so loud and for more peace, kindness and gentle touch.
You just sleep, I’m here to stay;
No matter what, I’ll watch over you.
In the dark ocean’s gentle sway.
Tomorrow there’ll be another day, shiny and new.”
Peace
To be able to be. Without fear of violence, death, destruction.
To be able to rest. Without worry of violence, death, destruction and being woken by bombs, guns, drones or deportation officers.
To be able to heal the planet. Without violence, death, destruction or distraction because of fear for your own and all life.
Friederike Ablang was born in East Berlin and illustrates books. She writes poems and published the book Das Friedenstier with her friends and colleagues Sabine Kranz and Merle Goll. A book whose sales generate donations for Medicines Sans Frontiers.
