Anouk Sebald
A woman floats underwater, slowly rotating counterclockwise. Pink light and multiple reflections of the sun place her body in a space between an underwater world and the cosmos. With her legs drawn up, her posture evokes both an embryo and an astronaut drifting weightlessly. Her movement is calm, controlled, and powerful.
Outer Space moves between vulnerability and strength, origin and transformation. Peace appears not as a fixed state but as a fragile physical balance and a moment of connection between body, nature, and the cosmos.
Anouk Sebald lives and works in Bern and Thun, Switzerland. The central themes of her artistic practice are identity, sexuality, transformation, and the power of images in public spaces. For several years, she has worked intensively with video, particularly in relation to the construction of identity, security, family, stereotypes, and sexuality. Through an experimental approach, she combines different media to explore the interplay between inner and outer transformation and its social and political dimensions.
