The work evokes a vision of peace and understanding. The figures, closely gathered around a single book suggest that peace begins with unity, when individuals come together to listen, learn and understand. In this silent, intimate moment, peace is not just the absence of conflict but the presence of shared stories, mutual care and a desire to grow together. The intertwined bodies and focus expressions reflect a deep collective intention to find meaning and harmony through knowledge.

Annie Kurkdjian is an Armenian-Lebanese artist, born in Beirut in 1972. Her early life was deeply marked by the Lebanese Civil War. Her paintings often depict the human form in twisted, contorted and surreal postures. Her work is deeply personal and serves as a form of catharsis to her.
