Michael Weßling

When Matthias Ries approached me about the createPeace initiative, it was immediately clear to me that I wanted to get involved.
My paintings are always non-representational. Colors, lines, and structures are at the heart of my artistic work. I immerse myself completely in the creative process, without preconceived ideas or fixed concepts. The canvas serves as a playground for intuition, where colors unfold freely and encounter each other in their own dynamics. Layering, overpainting, and altering create compositions that evolve from the moment.
My artistic approach also follows this principle in my photography. Abstraction takes precedence over representational representation. I seek structures, lighting conditions, and color nuances that transcend mere depiction and develop their own, autonomous aesthetic. I am particularly fascinated by the fusion of natural elements with abstract elements, which opens up new, often surprising visual worlds. I am often guided by a fresh perspective on what is already familiar.
Ultimately, my artistic work is an expression of freedom and inner peace. Freeing myself from representational constraints allows me to develop my own visual language, which doesn’t confront the viewer with a clear message, but rather leaves room for their own thoughts and emotions. Each image is an invitation to embark on a visual journey in which colors, lines, and textures play the main roles. My art is a process of constant discovery, a play with forms and atmospheres that continually opens up new possibilities and perspectives.
