Radja Ouslimane

You-Jin Chang

“If a miracle happened tonight and the world woke up to peace, I believe people would feel a deep and immediate sense of joy. There would be a lightness in the way we move, think, and connect with one another. For me, this feeling is very close to what I experience when I paint. My work evolves through loose shapes and colors placed freely beside each other. In that moment, there is no overthinking, only a natural flow. That freedom within the process mirrors a state of calm and happiness. The bright colors in the painting express this sense of collective joy.”

Radja Ouslimane is an Algerian artist and architect whose work moves between space, memory, and material. She explores Algerian culture as something lived and felt, expressed through subtle gestures and quiet narratives. Her practice transforms everyday objects and painted surfaces into carriers of emotion, absence, and nostalgia. Working through both ceramics and painting, Radja creates pieces where past and present gently collide. Her work does not seek to explain, but to evoke a familiar feeling that remains just out of reach.
