“If I woke up tomorrow in a world at peace, I imagine that gratitude would be one of the first feelings I would experience. This feeling lies at the heart of The Grateful. The sculpture reflects a state of inner gratitude and openness to life, while the color green was deliberately chosen as a symbol of peace, goodness, hope, and renewal.
For me, peace is not only the absence of conflict. It is also the ability to recognize the value of life, feel grateful for what we have, and remain open to one another. In this sense, The Grateful represents my own small invitation to a more peaceful and compassionate world.”
Rana Ajam, born in 1997 in Alexandria, Egypt, is a visual artist and a teaching assistant in the Sculpture Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University. She has received the Encouragement Prize at the 36th Youth Salon in 2026, the Dr. Mostafa El-Ezaby Prize for Sculpture at the 35th Youth Salon in 2024, as well as First Prize in the 1st Al Ameria Cement Sculpture Competition in 2023. Rana has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the 10th Beijing International Art Biennale in China, Incontro d’Arte at the National Museum of Grosseto in 2025, the 3rd Sculpture Salon at Cairo Opera House in 2023, and the Art Week exhibition at Granada Palace in 2022.
